It's May! Merry Beltane!
From Camelot:
It's May! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
It's here! It's here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear!
It's May! It's May!
That gorgeous holiday
When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad
Will be a cad!
It's mad! It's gay!
A libelous display!
Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,
Ev'ryone breaks.
Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes
The lusty month of May!
It's May, It's May,
the lusty month of May
That darling month when everyone throws
self-control away
It's time to do
a wretched thing or two
And try to make each precious day
one you'll always rue
It's May, it's May,
the month of "Yes, you may"
The time for every frivolous whim, proper or im-
It's wild, it's gay,
depraved in every way
The birds and bees with all
of their vast amorous past
Gaze at the human race aghast
The Lusty Month of May
It's May, it's May, the lusty Month of May
That lovely month when everyone goes
blissfully astray
it's here, it's here,
that shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
merrily appear
It's May, it's May,
the month of great dismay
when all the world is brimming with fun,
wholesome or un-
It's mad, it's gay,
alive a lust display
Those dreary vows that everyone takes,
everyone breaks
Everyone makes divine mistakes
The Lusty Month of May
Today is my favorite Pagan Holiday/Holy Day - Beltane. May Day. Paganism is the only major form of religion that still celebrates fucking!
Now that is something worth celebrating on a glorious Spring day, when the sun is shining and the yard is full of day lillies and irises. Not death or torture or guilt and sin. Sex. Love. Nature. Life. The sheer joy of watching the wind dance on the grass and feeling the sun on your bare skin.
If you've never been outside naked - and sad to say, many have not - find a way to do it as some point, even if it's just for a few minutes. It's a beautiful thing, being truly free of every restraint of "civilization," though King Arthur says in the movie/play that it's time for gathering flowers and a 'civilization should have a few gentle hobbies.' But then, it isn't really civilization that Beltane invites us to throw off, but chains, clothes, inhibitions, guilt and all the forms of repression the church and the government try to impose on us so that sex becomes sin and killing and dying become virtues. WE CAN BE CIVILIZED WITHOUT BEING REPRESSED. The idea that you need big daddy in the sky wagging his finger at you and pointing to a fiery pit to keep you honest is simply bullshit. Human beings have lasted as long as we have because we are loving, cooperative beings with a capacity for sharing and charity.
Did you see the protests on Saturday?! Glorious, weren't they? All those wonderful people taking the time to gather and demand that we WAGE PEACE for a change. That's called hope. That's called love for others as well as yourself. The true expression of faith is faith in each other to choose what is healthy, and right and natural and War is NONE of those things. The real Culture of Life was alive in those masses of people, who don't want the lives of our soldiers sacrificed for the profits of Halliburton and Bell Helicopter. There is no tangible gain to be had from this illegal enterprise W. is perpetrating in Iraq. Not one.
Celebrate life today. Have sex, wage Peace, and tell our government to bring our soldiers home where they belong.
Merry Beltane, Y'all!
