Obligation Sex That's what they call it when a little girl of 14, raped and left naked and alone at age 10, told by rape counselors that she now had no value in her culture, sells herself to U.N. representatives for a "a mug of milk, a cold soda-- or best of all-- a single dollar."
This is why Feminists are angry. Where are the good Christians fighting for this girl's life? The people sent to protect her are exploiting her. She has no hope for any kind of life. That is why there is no room for compromise on women's rights. Because this happens every day, in almost every country in the world, and it has to stop.

You're right. This was indeed the big undiscussed irony of the Terri Schiavo misadventure... A tremendous outpouring of emotional, financial and legislative resources for a damaged low-hanging fruit dying on the vine from people whose only stake in the problem in the Congo that you cite is to use it as a weapon against the UN... These are the same "culture of life" people who have been celebrating our military adventurism yet refuse to acknowledge the suffering and death of civilians in Iraq and elsewhere at the hands of our troops.
Had they put the same resources expended over Terri Schiavo towards preventing us from going to war in the first place (instead of cynically cheering it on), imagine how many lives they really could have saved?
