WSS Featured Blogger: Isabelle of Everybody Poops

1. How did you start blogging? Why do you keep at it?
I have strong opinions about things but no one to argue with, and you can't have passionate discussions with people who agree with you, so I started my blog to have passionate discussions with myself. And anybody else who wants to join. I used to have a diary-type blog a long time ago and I remember I'd get quite a lot of response with my more political entries, so last year I decided to start a completely non-diary blog and that worked great, so I never stopped... despite a few long breaks in between and lawsuit threats from my abusive ex-boyfriend.

2. What are your most important issues?
Feminism and secular humanism are the biggest ones right now, but that sometimes conflicts because some feminists argue that logic is a masculine way of seeing the world, and I talk about that too. I'm also into talking about politics, pop culture, environmental issues, and animal rights.

3. What's the nicest recognition you've ever received from the media and/or the blogosphere?
I haven't gotten much lately because I just came back from a Summer hiatus, but I do get added to blogrolls occasionally, and uuhh.. I did a book exchange with Dru Blood once, does that count as recognition??

4. Who is your audience? What is unique about your blog?
My mom!!
Who else... people who have a sense of humour, who can take things seriously but poke fun at it at the same time, feminists, secular humanists, environmentalists etc. who are open-minded to other causes as well (since I'm not a one-cause girl!!)

5. Most frustrating aspect of blogging?
Not wanting to piss people off - because I started the blog to speak whatever I wanted to, but then sometimes I have things to say that I know will piss off at least some of the people who read it, and I don't want to care but I do.

6. What's the one point you'd like a reader to take away from your blog- the one thing for them to really "get"?
That even within the "liberal" realm there is always more than one way to look at issues and we have to be open-minded and consider all options. For example, feminism and environmentalism sometimes conflict on an issue, or environment and animal rights.

And also: You don't have to be bitter just because you're pissed off!
