Hey, Can you say Abu Grahib?
washingtonpost.com - Presidential Debate Between President Bush and Sen. John F. Kerry:
"KERRY: Well, first of all, I appreciate enormously the personal comments the president just made. And I share them with him. I think only if you're doing this -- and he's done it more than I have in terms of the presidency -- can you begin to get a sense of what it means to your families. And it's tough. And so I acknowledge that his daughters -- I've watched them.
I've chuckled a few times at some of their comments.
(LAUGHTER)
And...
BUSH: I'm trying to put a leash on them.
(LAUGHTER)
KERRY: Well, I know. I've learned not to do that."
Do we really want to be talking about leashes for our grown daughters in the after-math of Abu Grahib? That's just creepy, George.

Morgaine -- I was just getting ready to post on that exchange myself when I stopped by here. I remember reading somewhere awhile back (wish I could remember where)that Bush commented to someone that his daughters drove him nuts. When I read it I wondered what kind of dad says something so disparaging about his kids to anyone other than an intimate. Trying to be fair I even thought he might not have actually said it. After last night, I'm sure he did. The leash image just reinforces how mindless he is; it made me sick.
Here's the reality
I've been curious about George Jr. posibly having a mild form of asperger's syndrome...this comment is so utterly incorrect as to be laughable. This sortof screwup is so common that the RNC has spun it into an integral part of his persona, and made it a positive, in a society where if the prez was a kid he would be censured pretty quickly. Terrifying.
Lynde England isn't using her leash anymore, Shrub should ask her if he could use it for his daughters!
A comment as disgusting as his remark.
It wasn't just in bad taste, it was strategically stupid. It wouldn't take much to spin that into the use of leashes coming from the top of the chain of command.
