3 More Examples of Conservative Perverts
All of this in my email today, via Alternet:
- Vatican Official Caught Soliciting Sex From Young Man On Hidden Camera, Insists He's Not Gay
- GOP County Chair Charged With Fondling Boy, Exposing Self
- AlterNet: Blogs: Video: Revisiting the Scene of O'Reilly's Most Despicable Moment [VIDEO]
Get that? A priest in the freaking VATICAN propositioning a boy for sex, a Republican party leader attacking a little boy, and the odious Bill O'Reilly saying that a poor child who was imprisoned and tortured for four years enjoyed it.
I always thought that these repressed old geezers were closeted homosexuals, but I've been wrong. They're not gay. They're pedophiles. Pedophiles are not necessarily gay, but rather perverts who have been deviantly imprinted to be aroused by children. They aren't really attracted to anyone but kids, though they're often quite good at playing roles like priest, politician, media personality, in addition to husband and/or father.
If you've ever seen NBC's series of reports called "To Catch a Predator," you know that these freaks come in all shapes and sizes. Here's one thing I've noticed, though - they're always dressed conservatively. Short hair, frequently military or corporate style. They look like they just came from work or a tail gating party. I've yet to see one who looks like a tree hugger or a hippie, let alone the educated elites that the radicals on the Right hate/fear so much. Not many metrosexuals in that crowd, but plenty of Guardsmen, truck drivers and computer programmers.
The Republican War on SEX is all about repression and guilt. They resent people who express their sexuality openly and without shame. It has been this way since the beginning of patriarchy. It's why they fear Pagans, Witches and gays so much - how dare we celebrate our sexuality? We're supposed to ignore our feelings and supress them until they become full blown compulsions as theirs are. Our sexuality is about joy and nature - not unnatural perversions that were created by childhood abuse and repression. You show me someone that wants to pass legislation restricting someone else's sexual activity and I'll show you someone in turmoil who's just one slip away from being a headline just like those above.
The opposite of attraction is not revulsion - it's indifference. If a particular act isn't your thing, you just don't think about it. It isn't on your radar. If you are so repulsed by a sexual act between consenting adults that you'll march a picket line or use it as a campaign platform, you've got problems. If you've got such a hatred of sexuality that you'd rather see a living, breathing woman die a horrible death than have an abortion, there's something wrong with you. You've got some deeply twisted damage from your child or teen years that you haven't found a proper outlet for. Do us all a favor and get some counseling.
Everyone out there knows what their own demons are. If you've got a thing for little boys, you don't put yourself in a career where you have power over them unless you intend to prey on them. As a society, we have to stop letting churches handle these things outside the law. As citizens, we have to stop voting for people who say all the right things but have the morals of jackals. As Progressives, we need to stop being so laid back about this shit when it hits the presses.
Good people are manipulated into supporting these creeps because no one is standing up and calling them the liars and fakes that they are. People respect strength. They'll go with the person with the clearest vision, even if that vision is wrong, before they'll go with someone who is too (weak? congenial? stupid? scared?) to make a stand against the worst examples of behavior we know.
If someone is hitting on men in an airport, he's gay. If someone is propositioning little boys, he's a pedophile. If someone is committing torture for ANY reason, he's a war criminal. If you know someone is doing any of those things and you don't put a stop to it, you're part of the problem, too.
If you can't stand up to those people and call them out on their lies, hypocrisy and crimes, you're a loser -- you're letting everyone down, from yourself to your country to your civilization. Shame on you. There's an argument to be made that some compulsions are irresistible. There's no argument to defend those who saw the damage being done and did nothing.
Right now, we have two types of people running our country. Those who commit crimes, and those who stand by and let them. One is just as bad as the other.
We don't need bystanders, we need heroes.
