'Tis the season to be a BIGOT...

First, my cousin is quotd in the AP defending her school's use of the Confederate flag because her "colored friends" (good grief - what year is it?) never object. Never mind that they're only 3% of the schools students and they're outnumbered 97-3 by a bunch of rebel yahoos...

Then my dad is watching a local basketball game and there are - brace yourself - two kids in the crowd wearing black face. I kid you not.

And now, Media Matters has a long list of Right Wing Nuts claiming that we are "at war with Islam" (I missed that memo) and that Barack Obama shouldn't be allowed to run for President because his middle name is Hussein and he might not be loyal to America.

WTF si going on?!?!???!?

Has Karl Rove issued a new list of talking points telling Republicans it's open season on African Americans? I haven't seen this kind of organized bigotry since the 60's and it makes me sick that it's rearing its ugly head now. I don't care what people say or believe privately, but we're talking about people in mass media advocating bigotry in the public forum. That's outrageous.

Media Matters called it the "Swift boating of Obama" but this is more like a metaphorical lynching and those don't always stay in the realm of metaphor. 1 out of every four adult African American men is in jail right now. We're approaching apartheid, kids and we need to hit the brakes NOW!

Don't kid yourself by saying you aren't black or Muslim so it doesn't affect you. Nazis only start with one group, but the always extend their reach. This is a policy of racism, not private belief. Let them marginalize Muslims and the rest of us who aren't the "right kind of person" - meaning not white enough, not Christian enough or the wrong kind of Christian, not rich enough, not straight enough or any other arbitrary designation the Conservative Elite decides ought to be locked up and used for cheap labor can become a target.
