The Need for Masculinity: The Equal Importance of Men by Alayne Grey Owl-Hearted
You really have to read this anti-feminist bull shit. It was written by a female Druid, which is really a contradiction in terms, though I know many women call themselves practicing Druids. As the anonymous commenter who gave me the link points out, she'd be scared to death of Dianic Wicce.
The primacy of the female is simple science. The male is a genetic derivative of the female. EVERY human begins as female. Males are never equal to the female in number, and there are species in which no male exists at all and the females reproduce parthenogenically. I believe that in the next few years they'll admit that human females have, or had, that capacity as well - it's echoed in the focus on Virgin Birth found in most mythology, and which has been reported throughout history. Modern geneticists bend over backwards to claim that it isn't possible, but they've already produced mice with two mothers and no father. I fully believe within 5 years, they'll have to admit that women can, or at least could in the past, reproduce without male involvement. It's absolutely possible for two women to have a child together right now, but the medical profession, a modern remnant of the Inquisitions, is suppressing that information. That has been proven to be impossible with male cells, however, because the Y chromosome is a crippled X and lacks some of the components necessary for reproduction. Maleness can't even reproduce itself.
I don't hate men - in fact, I love them. Some more than others, one in particular, but generally, I like guys and have no wish to see them treated unfairly. I HATE patriarchy and I loathe patriarchal apologists who betray their own gender by giving away women's inherent power and postion in the primal order. To put it simply, this chick should turn in her ovaries, because she's a traitor to her gender. Sorry, I can't be nice or moderate about this. She's perfectly free to worship as she chooses, but she's polluting a women's religion with patriarchal values that have no place in Pagan practice. We have enough problems in the Craft as it is - we can't agree on a definition, we don't work together for political purposes on a large scale, and we've got 6,000 years of misogynist propaganda and violent oppression, rape, torture, slavery and genocide working against us. Now we have to deal with a masculist woman attacking feminism? I don't think so...
This is a perfect example of a person who is nominally Pagan, but has brought her patriarchal damage into the Craft with her. Feminism is not about bullying boys on the playground. It's about little girls not having their genitals carved up in nasty conditions; it's about women being safe from rape and murder in their own homes; it's about being paid a fair wage for what we do, rather than being penalized for our gender; it's about making the care of our children a priority instead of an afterthought; it's about cooperation, Peace, and social justice. There's no hate involved. Some of us are angry and we have every right to be, but ultimately we love humanity and want us to treat each other with fairness and respect. For a woman to play into the hands of those who oppress us with scare tactics about dominant bitches who hate men is the ultimate irony.
There is one true element of the Craft that ought to be universal - our Sacred Mother is the living Universe, and everything that exists is a part of one feminine whole. Everything begins and ends with Her. If you can't deal with that, reconsider calling yourself Pagan, and don't you dare call yourself "Witch."
The Goddess loves all her children - too bad some of them don't love themselves.

Hi there, just found your blog and I am liking it! I am a hard core feminist, but not antimale. I completely agree with you and I am sick of seeing women behave like men! Women are NOT naturally violent! Violent women are a product of patriarchal brainwashing! Keep up the good work! :)
I love your clear, strong voice, morgaine. So many women get sucked in to the idea that they have to "save" men. How can we save men? We can't even save ourselves! Let's get our own air masks on first; then hopefully we'll have the strength and wisdom to help others.
Say Np = thanks for your kind words and for letting me know someone is reading!
Athana = what a PERFECT analogy. We're dying from poison air,and the women need to save us first. then do what we can for the others.
