Moms Rising: A Mother's Revolution?

Some of you may remember that I've been saying we need a Mother's Revolution to get this culture back on track. Mother's won't send their kids to war for profit; will see that everyone has health care; will work for social justice and human rights because we are all someone's child. MomsRising.org is not as radical as I'd want the revolution to be, but it's on the right track. Everybody get behind them and push!

Today is Mother's Day, of course, and I'm wishing I was in Washington for the demonstration descending on Congress as we speak. I'm with them in spirit, and sweet Goddess, what spirits they have. These are strong women committed to change and they are asking one thing, and one thing only this time: Bring our troops home now.

We are at a critical juncture in this culture. Republican greed and cronyism is about to bring us to the brink of ruin. Anyone who doesn't want to wake up in a feudal state in the near future had better wake up now and stand up to the looting that's going on in DC. Are we going to be a culture that does the best it can for all of its members, or are we going to allow NeoCon Criminals to continue shifting wealth upward to themselves as our buying power plummets?

We have a choice - work for the benefit of each other or become slaves to an elite class that thinks our kids are cannon fodder and it's ok to let poor people drown and die even though there's help nearby. Think about Barbara Bush saying that the hurricane was "working out very well" for people who had to flee to Houston. Babs is our own Marie Antoinette - the French got that one right in the French Revolution - maybe the 21st century can put these evil thieves in their places without bloodshed. Goddess knows, enough people have died needlessly since shrub darkened the Oval Office.

MomsRising is a moderate movement, but it has all the right elements to transform important parts of American life - fair wages, space to care for our kids and the support we need to do it, a return to community and cooperation. This is long overdue.
