Citizenspook: Bush has no authority to fire Fitzgerald
citizenspook
There's a thorough analysis of Fitzgerald's appointment that makes it pretty clear that while Bush may or may not end Fitzgerald's job as a US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, he has no legal power to touch him where Treasongate is concerned. He also has no limitations as to where he can take the investigation.
Of course, this crowd makes a habit of breaking the law, but this would be huge and the public is already turning against them. I sure wouldn't want to be on a plane with Fitzgerald while this is going on. He's the last best hope for our democracy.
