Americans too craven to die for their ideals

I've been asking myself the same question. I can't believe that we let these losers steal two elections, destroy our reputations, eviscerate the Constitution, and that the people who claim to be the most patriotic are helping them do it. I can't believe that "Christians" really hate gays and women more than they love the children they are sending off to war; that they'd rather give up their civil liberties than live next door to a gay couple; they'd rather see a woman die in childbirth than have a simple medical procedure that could save her life. Americans used to pride ourselves on being honest, altruistic, generous, and open. We've become cowards, bigots, xenophobic, regressive and superstitious.

What happened to my America? The place that put liberty and civility above everything else? That cared about the poor and the weary? That cherished its freedom to worship as we choose? That lead the world in education and innovation? Are we really going to let these zealots and robber barons set us back a hundred years?
