Alternet: Hired Guns with War Crimes Past

So now we are hiring war criminals from South Africa to fight in Iraq? How much worse is this story going to get?

Let's recap: We have an unelected President who gained office by dubious means, who apparently planned to attack Saddam Hussein - a former ally - come Hell or high water. He used 9/11 as an excuse to attack the wrong country, and lied to Congress as well as the American people to justify it.

He has looted the treasury and endangered our future. Only his fat cat friends are prospering, as working people see their jobs go overseas. Corporations and rich people pay fewer taxes as our government spends 4 billion a week on an illegal, ill-advised war in which we have hired 20,000 mercenaries to supplement our own troops, who are torturing and raping male and female prisoners in violation of the Geneva Convention.

Half of the American people are so poorly educated that they think this is a good idea, and "God is on our side" and who needs that old Constitution anyway if my kids can't pray in school and beat up the little heathens that won't. And we now have state-sponsored corporations like Clear Channel, Sinclair Broadcasting and Disney controlling what goes on the airwaves and gets distributed. Do I need to mention Fox "News"- let's face it, calling it news is just false advertising and shouldn't be allowed - and the other members of the press corpse that ought to be hammering this asshole daily but are too worried about keeping their jobs to actually DO THEIR JOBS.

I'll say it again: 1984 is NOT an instruction manual. How can John Kerry be having trouble campaigning against this?!

Hey, Kerry! You're a freaking WAR HERO running against a deserter. Your campaign slogan ought to be "I showed up!" All you have to do is list your accomplishments. You showed up at school and actually got an education; you showed up for the draft and you volunteered for combat; when you got back you showed up to end the war because you realized young men were dying for no good reason; You gave the president what he asked for when he lied to congress and now you have to show up again to clean up this mess. If you want my vote in the primary, I better start hearing the words "War Crimes" outta you PDQ. I still say Kucinich is the only set of cojones on the ballot.
