Lisa de Moraes - ABC Is the Belle of the Ballroom - washingtonpost.com: Vanished Turns out killing the star in the seventh episode wasn't such a good idea after all. Fox has pulled 'Vanished,' which briefly starred Gale Harold, out of its lineup and will run the remaining episodes on the Internet."

GEE, YA THINK? If FOX hadn't freaked out before the show even aired, Berman et al would have a thriving show on their hands. Instead, Gale is in NYC doing Suddenly Last Summer with Blythe Danner, and Berman is out of a job.

Gale Harold Hasn't Vanished Yet

An Excerpt:
AfterElton.com -
This year, after five years of Queer as Folk, a handful of indie films, and a few television appearances including Law and Order: SVU and the TV movie Martha Behind Bars, Harold landed the lead in Fox's new crime drama Vanished, playing FBI agent Graham Kelton.

Harold's fans, mostly straight women who knew him from his days on Queer as Folk, were understandably excited about his new role. They built websites and formed online forums in anticipation. They created photo galleries of Harold's sex scenes from Queer as Folk, asking, “Hey, Vanished fangirl, wanna see a picture?” They dubbed Kelton “the prettiest FBI agent in FBI land.” And they went out, in the way of fans everywhere, to spread the good news on other websites, including fox.com. A few of those fans began to wonder if Fox was downplaying Harold's role as Brian Kinney. They pointed to his barebones online bio, which simply lists Harold's credits as “appearances,” ranking his 10 minutes on one episode of Law and Order: SVU equally with his five years of starring on Queer as Folk.

Hmmm... Was The Rumor mistaken? What's going on with The Gale? Is Kelton doomed, or is this a plot device that no one will cop to because they either don't want to spoil the mystery, or are gagged by confidentiality agreements?

Stay Tuned...

A POX on FOX! Say you're running a TV show that's about to premiere on a Monday evening. You've got a bit of a buzz, some mixed reviews, but a leading man with a hardcore fan base and 6 years experience headlining a series. Now, what's the STUPIDEST thing you could possibly do? How about letting the leading man your audiences are tuning in to see GO, just hours before the series' first episode airs. An episode that WON the ratings in its time slot. So here you are, a potential hit, and you've just fired the guy who brought in the audience. Idiots.

Our consolation, Gale fans, is that now Gale can get an ACTING job. FOX apparently just needed somebody to kick down a few doors. Gale is wasted in a part that doesn't have writing that's up to his level, and Vanished has some of the worst dialogue on TV. Hang in there - we're with Gale whereever he is. Gale will be on Vanished through episode 7, so we've got 5 more glorious hours of Galeness to savor, and then we hope he has a better gig than this one. We also hope the show fails miserably, and that everyone in the production gets a special kick of instant karma for not knowing a gift when they've got one.
